Keep Blogging!

Posted: November 30, 2017 in Uncategorized

Good morning year 9!

It’s time to continue with your blogs. Don’t forget to use your plans to help you write something that is:

  • interesting and engaging (language devices and great vocabulary)
  • well organised (paragraphs and connectives)
  • chatty and informal (informal features)

When you’ve finished your Blog post, share it on Google Drive with the rest of the class so that we can all read and decide on the best ones to post live on my blog.

If you need more inspiration, take a few minutes to read one of these blogs:  (whole school blogs!)

Good luck!

Time for you to get blogging!

Hi there year 9!

Today, you’ll be planning and beginning to write your own blog post.

This can be about any topic you find interesting, but it’s best to choose something that you find interesting and/or know a lot about.

Use the planning sheet to help you firm up your ideas. Consider the following:

  1. The tone needs to be informal and engaging (no boring vocab!)
  2. Make sure you know the purpose of your blog, if it’s to describe, you’ll need to use lots of lovely imagery and interesting adjectives. If it’s to persuade you’ll need to think about how to hook your reader and then use the right techniques to win them over to you way of thinking! Maybe you want to inform your readers – in which case, make sure you’ve got your facts straight!
  3. The content needs to be well organised into paragraphs and in a logical order. Furthermore, don’t forget the connectives! (See what I did there?)
  4. You might want to add images to make your blog post even more interesting.

Good luck everyone! I’ll be posting a selection of the best ones right here on my blog so your writing can get a wider audience – so make sure you check that spelling… you don’t want tols of nistakes! 😉
